The event has been cancelled because of COVID-19.
Thank you for your understanding!
Massif du Sud regional park, the Red Cross and Courir la Beauce invite you to the fifth edition of the Trail du Massif du Sud, on July 18, 2020. The traditional lengths are offered once more this year:
2K children; 6K (walk or run); 10K; 21K
Eco-responsability: Massif du Sud regional park promotes the practice of outdoor activities in a healthy and safe environment. This year, some aspects of the race have been changed in order to hold a more environmentally sustainable race. So, for the 5th edition of the Trail du Massif du Sud race, the participants will not receive medals and promotional merchandise (except for the 2K childern race). By reducing the amount of material goods involved in the race, we aim to raise awareness towards social and environmental issues regarding the production of these items and our consumption. After all, isn’t the satisfaction of crossing the finish line, knowing you stood up to the challenge, the real reward?
Canadian championship: Once again this year, the Trail du Massif du Sud race is a qualification race for the canadian championship of the Canadian Trail & Mountain Running Association. Runners can qualify by ranking in the top five of their age category (10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 years old and +.), in any of the distances (6k, 10k or 21k).
NEW in 2020: The start and finish line located in the Trois-Fourches area will be made a lot more pleasant and functional with the use of the newly built Pavillon Desjardins. The Pavillon Desjardins will offer plenty of inside or covered outside seated areas, drinking water, toilet and shower access and much more.
Runners will receive a beverage after their race upon presenting their numbered bib at the refreshment table.

At Massif du Sud regional park, the protection of the environment by and for outdoor lovers is one of the values we believe in. Therefore, the Trail du Massif du Sud elaborated a long-term plan of concrete actions to be taken in order to decrease the impact of the race on the environment. Here are some of the actions that will be put in place, with the help of our partner, MEC (Mountain Equipment Coop).
Presented by MEC
The protection of our natural ressources is a priority at MEC and that is why we chose to partner with the Trail du Massif du Sud to offer a few tips on how to make your race as traceless as possible.
Residual matter
An eco-friendly runner knows that everything that is carried in is also carried out. That applies to what you carry, but can also be said of what you find on the trail. Why not take a second to bend and pick up that gel package someone else left behind? Tip: Carry a ziploc bag to put your waste.
During the race, you will encouter a few aid points filled with all sorts of goodies to help you refuel. Here are some items you can bring along to limit the amount of waste produced:
Sorting stations will be placed at the start/finish line and in the snack area. Take some time to become familiar with the system and use it appropriately to help us reduce the amount of material going to the dumping ground.
Transportation
As Massif du Sud regional park is located far from urban center and public transportation, we highly recommend that you make the most of your travel. The Facebook page of the event is a good place to post your offer or your need in terms of transportation.
You are a local runner? Warm-up by running or biking to the event!
Medals and other merchandise
For the 2020 edition, the Trail du Massif du Sud organizing comittee decided to be eco-friendly and not give out medals and promotional merchandise. More than often, these items will only serve to fill our bottom drawers or closets for a few years before being discarded and sent to waste. We hope you will agree and join us in thinking that the real rewards of the race are the challenges we stood up to, the pleasure we experienced and the smiles we shared with our fellow runners!
